Stephen S. Witte was, until recently, a member of the faculty of the history department at the University of Nebraska, teaching various courses in European and American history, including a seminar on Lewis and Clark. Dr. Witte earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Hastings College in Nebraska, his M.A. in history at Notre Dame, and a doctorate in American history from the University of Nebraska. He assisted in indexing Gary Moulton’s thirteen-volume edition of The Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
