Double Ditch was a fortified Mandan earth lodge village. It was abandoned about 1785 after a smallpox epidemic.

Double Ditch is a High Potential Historic Site along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail managed by the U.S. National Park Service. The site is 7.5 miles north of Bismarck and open to the public with walkways and interpretive signs.
